Zales Doubles Tennis

...and now, 30 seconds of Think Tank news you can use.

Thursday 9/4/08

Welcome back to another installment of OVER THE HUMP. Real quick, did anyone else catch the Republican National Convention last night? We here at Think Tank rarely (if ever) get political on this site but the sarcasm, lies, and tired old fear mongering tactics that defined every speech last night was deplorable. It really made us sick…..then we were fortunate enough to get emailed this video….and it made us feel a little bit better. Check out Rage Against the Machine performing acapella outside of the RNC:

Here is a cartoon made by our pal Matt Filipowicz (http://accountantsofhomelandsecurity.com/) regarding John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his V.P candidate:

Okay…we’re done with the political jabs for this week…so let’s get into some fun & funny stuff. First up, for all you Chicagoans, our buddies over at The Lakewood Manor Players (www.lakewoodmanorplayers.com/) are hosting a Pinewood Derby THIS WEEKEND at Five Star Bar and Grill. Here is a promo video for it:

Make sure to check out our SHOWS page for some recently updated September dates….perhaps should have mentioned that at the top. Oh well. Last up we have a video that poses the question: what you gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you? The debut video from Seattle 8-bit warriors Truckasauras offers some answers in this awesomely manipulated montage:

Thursday 8/28/08

First up we have a trailer for what appears to be the BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME ever put on television. It’s for a new TV show called My Own Worst Enemy. Based solely on this magnificent trailer, here is our hot review:

Christian Slater is a suburban douche bag. Christian Slater is an action-star douche bag. The twist? The first Christian Slater doesn’t even know that the other Christian Slater exists!! Will action-star Christian Slater become domesticated? Or will suburban Christian Slater start shooting rocket launchers?! Anything could happen when you have sooo many Christian Slater’s learning about other Christian Slater’s. AHHHHHH!!!!

Next up we have a video of Think Tank receiving a giant check for $18.44 at the PBR Gong show we did last week at Cora Lounge. Not a tremendous sum of money, right? Well, it was also all-you-could-drink beer for the performers that night, so trust us, we got our money’s worth out of the evening:

And lastly we have a video of The Puterbaugh Sisters giving a tutorial on how female comics can make it in the comedy world. Chicagoans…keep your eyes peeled for the front page article on September 6th in the Red Eye about the Puterbaugh sisters, Beth Stelling, and Fay Canale. Randy Schmelter would be proud:

Thursday 8/21/08

Welcome back to OVER THE HUMP…..first and foremost, make sure to stop by The Cobra Lounge tonight! We will be performing as part of this PBR Gong show:

In honor of The Gong Show, here is a WEIRD clip of a group called Oingo Boingo playing some tunes on the original 1970's TV Show:

Next up is a video of some dudes doing the Charleston dance to Daft Punk (this is awesome):

And lastly we have 2 Public Service Announcements from our pals over at The Lakewood Manor Players. The first video features our buddy Steve Shields / the second features our good buddy Shane Loftus:

Thursday 8/14/08

This weeks Over The Hump features 3 all new Think Tank videos for your enjoyment! First up is a new scene (entitled Lathrozar) which is about two guys stuck in prison….both accused of being Warlocks:

Next up we have a classic Tank scene (Astronauts) revamped with a whole new bag of tricks:

And last up we have Paul and Kev performing Doubles Tennis on a very slippery stage…so, needless to say, things stay interesting:

Thursday 8/7/08

This week’s addition of OVER THE HUMP features some more live Think Tank footage. But before we get to all that….make sure to stop by The Cornservatory this Saturday night (8/9/08) @ 11pm to check out our hilarity in person! Okay, enough with the shameless plugs.

This first video is our closing number from the July 5th show at Live Bait Theater. Its an idea Brent had kicking around in his head for quite some time….and, well, in classic Think Tank form we made it a bit more abstract than most….its basically a rock opera musical featuring some sweet tunes by THE WHO:

Next up is a video of Paul doing stand-up @ the Kid HaHa's Playhouse last Tuesday:

And lastly, we always try to throw attention towards our amazingly talented friends as well….so here is a video of our dear friend Beth Stelling doing stand-up at the Big News show @ i.O (formerly Improv Olympic):

Thursday 7/31/08:

Welcome back to another addition of over the hump. We have just booked a few different shows for August so make sure to check back later this week for all the details. Now….on with the videos! First up is some more hilarious footage from our big July 5th show at Live Bait Theater. This scene is entitled JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE:

Next up we have a few “oldie but goodies” if you will. Here are a slew of videos made by Paul, Peter, and Ian Bonner (Money In The Pants) waaay back in 2005.

In this video we interviewed some people on the streets and asked them to tell us jokes!

In the next video we all mess pretty bad with public transportation here in the city:

And last but not least, in this final video Ian Bonner steals Peter’s very last beer from the fridge:

Thursday 7/24/08:

First up is a video from our last show....our dear friend Kevin Pomeroy made several cameo appearances as Uncle Sam in a segment we like to call "What did he look like.....How did he die":

Next up is the new(ish) Radiohead video for the song "House Of Cards". For this video no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data:

Here is a funny vid from our wolf pals The Putterbaugh Sisters:

And last but not least, here is a music video from a local Chicago hip-hop duo that are going to be blowing up real soon. Check out all the Chicago footage featured in the video too. This is YeaBig+KidStatic with "The Life Here":

Thursday 7/17/08:

This weeks OVER THE HUMP features some brand new live videos from our BIG 5th of July Show @ the Live Bait Theater. We have lots more footage from the show so make sure to check back next week for a bunch of new scenes.

First up we have HOMELESS SALESMAN.....a poetic scene about an entrepreneur who helps the homeless:

Next up is a  DOUBLE DARE themed interactive competition we hosted  with two lucky audience members:

Thursday 7/10/08:

Over.The.Hump….hope everyone had a radical holiday weekend. WE certainly did. After a ridiculous gathering at Brent’s place last Thursday night and a blowout show on Saturday night, the Tank is still recovering. We have tons of new footage that should be ready any day now (both from The Cornservatory & the Live Bait Theater shows).

Here is a quick picture from Brents party. It got pretty foggy so we had to man some guests with flashlights.

Photobucket

Since the upcoming weeks will probably feature a lot of show footage....this week we are dedicating entirely to music.

First up is a video of the band Love Is All playing a live version of Wishing Well. This video is from the website Handheldshows.com which has videos of various bands playing impromptu acoustic sets in random places. This version shows the band is at some European Train station. Check out the befuddled bystanders….

Next up is some live footage of our Brooklyn buddies Tigercity jamming out in Cambrige, MA. You can see them live in Chicago at Schuba's on July 31st:

Here's Bob Dylan playing Chimes of Freedom live at the Newport Folk Festival in 1964:

And last but not least.....Radiohead playing Jigsaw Falling Into Pieces.....with cameras mounted to their heads:

Thursday 7/3/08:

Welcome back to another addition of over the hump! We had a blast last Saturday night performing at The Cornservatory and should have video from the show coming up very soon…..

The BIG news this week however is THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! We will be performing our huge 5th of July extravaganza show at the Live Bait Theater. The show starts at 10:30pm…but show up a little early for some fun pre-show activities, including a fantastic ukulele player we just booked to jam out in the lobby.

To help kick off the holiday (party) weekend right, here is an awesome music video from the band No Age in which they rock a sweet backyard party:

Next up is a hilarious video featuring our good buddy Kevin Pomeroy. Keeps your eyes peeled for him at our show this weekend….he might just resemble Uncle Sam:

Here is a video from another one of our good friends 80’s Clown. He is getting so big these days he has even got a new sponsor:

And last but not least….here is a beautiful song about Llama’s:
